Finally another post

Sorry it has been so long but summer's meant to be out and have fun right? Well I'm moving back up to school at the end of the week so I've been rushing to really finish at least one model. I finished after the last few days and I have to say I'm quite proud of myself. I have learned quite a bit too, using the airbrush, fixing seam lines, etc. etc. The stands I bought finally have a use as well, so that's something to be happy about. I think I might take it with me to my new apartment.
Here it is, my finished HG Thron

In-Progress Projects

So the two projects I'm going to be working on next is the GN Arms (I am going to try a full new color scheme) and the Skygrasper. I've been wanting to try making a Perfect Grade and thought I'd try with something small. I was pleasantly surprised, it's quite detailed and the paint job is pretty nice. It could certainly use a few touches here and there so I'll do that and then maybe go towards either the Aile Striker for it or the Unicorn gundam. I've also got my Strike Freedom and my PG Strike to do but I'm saving those for when I have an AB.

Here's two pics of the snapfitted skygrasper

I also finished my Exia completely. Even the yellow cheeks

I wasn't very fond of the design when I first saw it but I think it's grown on me. I want to assemble the whole Gundam 00 Team in 1/100 scale but I think I'll wait for the MG version of Exia. You know it's going to come.

I also bought some Revoltech figures. The new movie version of Eva 00 and Eva 01. I love Neon Genesis, one of the all time favorite animes and I hope that the ending to the movies will be better. The first movie was really good, in my opinion.

Both figures look might cool, great posability too!

Well, this post is longer than I thought it'd be. I hope to be able to update next time with some new pictures and some actual progress on my projects!

No, I'm not dead

Yeah it's been a long time but I didn't know people would actually come to this site. Well I've been working on my 1/144th Exia and the GN Arms. I've snap fitted both (the GN Arms just recently) and have been painting but I've come to a stall because I haven't had time to buy some more paint. I wasn't able to take many pictures because my camera's battery died (after 3 days of use) but I'll show you what I've gotten done.

I always paint from lightest to darkest (as you should!) and so I only still need to paint a few places grey and then do the panel lines. I like how the red came out on the shins and thighs.

Action shot! Plus a shot of the Exia in the GN Arms. The GN Arms is really cool looking but definitely needs a lot more paintwork to make it look more fearsome. Look forward to this project, I plan to invest a considerable amount of time in it.

I also actually snapfitted another model to begin thinking bout what colors I would need to paint it (FX-550). I also bought two figures that look really cool from one of my favorite series. I'll be sure to have pictures in my next post.

Overflag Fiasco, Replacements

So I made a stupid mistake with my Overflag; I glued the leg parts together without the thigh part and since I used plastic cement, the parts are melted together. I tried to fix it a bit but got really tired and frustrated, I'll get back to it some other time.

To make up for it, I decided to create the two Throne Gundams. Instead of taking my time to sand off every nub and waste so much effort--like I did with the Overflag--I just did a quick fitting of the parts, cutting the male parts so they'll separate easier for later. I have to say that both the Eins and Zwei are much more articulate then the Overflag and while there is a lot of painting necessary, they do look nice. I like how the bodies are basically the same so you could combine all three Throne Gundams into one with all the weapons if you so wish. I'll get back to them over the upcoming weekends.

Love the Throne Ein's design. The shoulder gun is so huge, it's tip is higher than my MG's even without being unfolded

The Zwei needs a lot of paint and just doesn't look as cool without panel lines since it's so bright. The sword is awesome though, Can't wait to make this one.

I'm looking forward to painting the two Thrones and still need to get the last one, the Drei. Probably will pick that one up as well as the MG Impulse and possibly the MG Sword/Launcher Strike. I love the strike, especially it's sword pack and the Impulse's Blast mode is bad-ass looking too.

Done with Overflag prefitting!

So I finished just building and sanding down the nubs. I really like how the Overflag looks. I need to apply some plastic cement to fix the seam lines and do lots of sanding after that. I hope to be able to do that before the end of spring break, but it sure seems to be coming up fast! I probably won't finish because I want to airbrush some internal parts but I have yet to buy a system. Here are two pics of it so far.

As you can see, I taped a lot of pieces because I made them loose so I could open them easily. HG are simple but really fun, I think I might start on the Throne Eins or take them up to Cal with me.

New project! HG Overflag

So I decided to start with the Overflag. I really like it's design and so if I do mess it up I'll probably buy the 1/100th version coming out to do it justice.

As you can see I haven't gotten very far, especially for a high grade but this is mainly just a parts fitting and sanding off the nubs or other areas to make it sharp.

I want to try practicing puttying to cover up the seam lines but haven't gotten around to it just yet. Still haven't decided when to buy an airbrush so this may take a while, I might even start on the thrones if I'm up to it.

They've come!

So today is my first day of Spring Break and after cleaning up of a party last night I came home to a big big box containing all the Gundams I ordered. There were so many that I was jumping up and down in excitement and giddiness. I laid them out on my bed and snapped a shot for posterity.

Starting from the top left there is the:
PG Strike Gundam
PG Skygrapser + Aile Striker
MG Unicorn Gundam
HG GN Arms + Gundam Exia (Trans-Am Mode)
HG Gundam Throne Eins
HG Gundam Throne Zwei
HG Overflag

I also got myself some tools, a pin vise with some drill bits and an angled tweezer.

I really don't know which to start with, I think I'll try the overflag or one of the other HGs and hopefully get an airbrush soon so I can start trying it out on them. Which do you think I should make first?

Buyer's Remore? I Think Not

Okay, quick post. I know it's been about forever since I posted but that's because nothings really happened so far. So a while ago I ordered the 1/144 GN Arms + Exia gundam on Hobbylink Japan, but I found it cheaper on another great site, rainbowten.co.jp/english . It is really nice and all the stuff are really cheap. I ended up spending $300 on it. I can't believe it myself but I'll definitely snap a picture of it all when it comes. I hope my new digital camera gets fixed by then so I can take some quality pictures. Till then, see yah

Finished the little Kira figure

So yesterday I moved back into the dorms up in UC Berkeley. That morning though, I was woken up early and I had some time on my hands so I decided to finish up the Kira figure before I leave. Posed it with the Strike and changed Destiny's pose a bit too.

I have to say that the experience has been really helpful, I learned to mix colors using my handy color wheel (I only have the primary red, blue, yellow, and black and white). I feel as if the skin isn't light enough but oh wells I'm Happy with it.

There's the Destiny in a new pose.

On a side note, I ordered a MG Strike Freedom conversion set from Hobbyfan.com It's the one made my Vicious Projects (VP) and I think it'll look really cool. It's resin so I'll need to buy an airbrush when I want to make it. Really looking forward to making my Strike now; I might eve just give it a new paint scheme.

Trying something new

So Gundam models usually come with small figurines of the pilot and another character but they're so tiny I've never been able to do anything about it. The Destiny gundam had some bigger figures of Shinn and Kira and lately I've been trying my hand at painting them, haven't finished though. I don't think it'll turn out very well but since it's my first time, I wasn't hope for much. The Kira one will go great with the Strike Freedom that I'll be making.

My friend thought it was a girl because of the bust but sadly it's just his "pilot suit"

Finally A Post

Sorry it's been so long. My winter break has been very fun, going out spending time with loved ones and what nots. I finished the Destiny gundam. My girlfriend things it looks pretty good, which I would hope so since she bought it for me. She likes the pink wings and I do admit they are a nice touch.

I also went out and bought myself a birthday present (yes it's today!) impulsively when I found this new anime shop that had a lot. I've been meaning to buy the master grade Strike Freedom to complement the Destiny for some time now. It looks amazing (even though I only have the normal version and not the special edition like my Destiny) but I think it will look even better when I can get an airbrush (I also haven't put on any decals for the destiny for that very reason). I'm painting the figures of Shinn and Kira that came along with my Destiny to see how well I can make them. I probably won't be completely finishing the Strike Freedom anytime soon though (well maybe just the pre-build...) since the semester is starting in a week.
